Charles Gielow - Musician and Engineering Student

Charles Gielow is a musician who attended the School of Rock before attending high school, playing bass guitar in the program’s West Coast Summer Tour and Midwest Summer Tour, among other engagements. Charles Gielow won the James Taylor Award at the School of Rock in 2021 and was a camp counselor in 2021 and 2022.

As a high school student, Mr. Gielow participated in DECA marketing competitions, placing first in sectional and Minnesota state competitions in the International Business Plan category in 2022. He went on to compete in the International DECA Conference, his project focusing on making biomedical products cost-effective (an interest that aligns with his career plans).

Mr. Gielow aspires to study biomedical engineering in college, specifically medical device innovations that reduce health care costs without compromising care quality. His goal is to advance products that provide greater access to health care for people in underserved and low-income communities.

After graduating from high school in 2023, Mr. Gielow enrolled in the industrial distribution engineering program at Texas A&M University. He is currently involved with the Freshman Leadership Organization at the university, as well as the Professional Association for Industrial Distribution.

Mr. Gielow’s hobbies and interests include downhill skiing, European travel, Major League Baseball (from a statistical standpoint), architecture, bass fishing, and volunteering. He currently volunteers at Shout Out Loud Suicide Prevention events and the American Heart Association Heart Walks.
